ABOUT GRITTY: Gritty is a rap artist with an urgent mission: to impact the globe with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. Ryan Vestal (a.k.a. "Gritty") started down an unusually rebellious path. Crime, drugs, alchohol, premarital sex, gangs, violence, in his teen years would get him banned from the countries of Panama and Japan (where his father was stationed as a member of the armed forces) and, eventually, landed him in prison. Expelled 6 yrs. in a row from school, 7 felonies as a juvenile, & 3 yrs. wasted behind bars in numerous juvenile facilities left little or no hope for the troubled teen. After hearing hateful ridicule & predestined plans of a cell, or hell from rappers, teachers, siblings, & authorities, Ryan almost began to buy into the lie of hopelessness. But his life took a dramatic turn when he heard the message of God's loving grace and how he sent his Son Jesus to die on a cross for the sins of the world. Gritty knew God had sent him a lifeline and he received Christ on July 27th 1999.
Instantly, Gritty was gripped by a desire to lift up the Savior and to tell others about his conversion experience. He soon turned his street-wise lyrical prowess and vocal talents into a powerful tool to reach out to other young people who, like him, were headed down a path to despair and brokenness as they fell to the allure of drugs, quick money, and sex that pervaded the hip-hop culture he was raised in. From its humble beginnings in the living rooms of friends, RepThaKing has become a platform for Gritty to expand the ministry he was entrusted with, allowing him to do concerts and youth-rallies all over the United States. His fresh approach to evangelizing at-risk youth, has put him in high-demand as word-of-mouth keeps his calendar full. Using a very powerful tool, rap music, he desires to: 1. Uplift the name of Jesus Christ. 2. To seek & save that which is lost & to get them involved in their local Church laboring. 3. To see the body of Christ edified, & believers equipped with the proper tools to evangelize
